    Standards for sharing health information

    How do think the Consolidate Health Informatics (CHI) initiative will improve the exchange of health information in the healthcare sector? Has your organizations already adopted some of these standards? What concerns do you have about making sure your systems are compliant with these new standards?       Now, I am not fluent on this initiative, but, I believe any sort of standardisation is both necessary and desirable. But, it will not work unless there is a government rollout on the software – ie. there is only one program that can be used, since then all data will be transferrable.

      Why stop there? Why not build a PPPTP network for these people to share data (and then you will be rockn!)

      To quote Andrew Tannenbaum: “The great thing about standards is that there are so many of them”, so we can all choose which ones we want to use! Naturally this defeats the purpose.

      Initiatives like this are to be welcomed only if they do not duplicate other work. I expected to see reference to MedDRA and CDISC here, but no?
