star window 98

i bought an used computer, and i can't open it,
because after i boot it, i saw the phrase : "
press ctrl-alt and enter to system setup, and then the window system sepup display, and i don't
known how to display window 98, when i reboot , and setup by start disk win98, then the setup stop
because : the computer installed win 98, so i couldn't do anything, please help me to open it

Make sure that you have your licensed copy of the Windows 98 installation media. If not, secure that before you proceed.

Boot to a DOS prompt. Change your directory to C:\WINDOWS. Rename the WIN.COM file to something else. Rename the COMMAND.COMfile to something else. Boot the system with the Windows 98 boot floppy that came with your operating system (it loads the drivers for your CD-ROM, among other things). When you have booted to the floppy, with access to your CD-ROM drive, insert theWIN98 CD into the CD-ROM, and at the prompt, type \SETUP (assuming your CD-ROM drive letter is "D". When asked where to install Windows, DO NOT accept the suggested directory. Choose "Other", and type in C:\WINDOWS. Install WIN98 normally. Your programs, peripherals, etc., will retain their identities.

Again, if you do not have your licensed installation media, STOP.
