start/program window overflowing?? in xppro

By vanborine ·
Start/all programs
What do you do when the all programs window fills up and there is no more room to add programs that you can see and work with in all programs...can this be changed to work like win98...where they are all in a single colum?

I think you are referring to the frequently used programs that are shown or hidden by the personalized menus switch that shows only what you've used recently in the programs list without clicking the little arrow to open up the whole list.

This is toggled through START>SETTINGS>TASK BAR AND START MENU then uncheck the box that says "Use Personalized Menus"

You should now see a full list of your programs when you go to START>PROGRAMS

Right-click the Start button and click Properties; on that menu select the Classic Start menu radio button and then click Customize. From there select the Scroll Programs option and click OK, click OK again. Your Start menu will now eriely resemble the good ol' days of Win98.

Hope this helps :)

If you really want to go all out just hit Google with the search term "Windows 98", sans quotes, click on images and you can get the wallpaper back too. There's even an 800x600 jpeg of the dreaded BSOD. ;-)
