start up errors

By briannewman80 ·
Can anyoneplease help with an irritating start up problem using Windows XP Media Centre Edition with Service Pack 2.
At the bend of boot up I get a dialogue box titled Windows File Protection with the message. "please wait while windows verifies that all protected files are intact and in the original version". If I close this very quickly it disappears and boot up completes. More often I am not quick enough and a 2nd dialogue box appears with the same title and a message "files that are required for windows to run properly must be copied to the DLL cache. Insert your windows XP professional service pack 2 CD now". If I insert my windows CD, the message appears "The CD you have provided is the wrong CD". When I try to close all these boxes I end up in a loop and they reappear several times. After closing all the boxes about 4 or 5 times they eventually stay closed and boot up completes. Any ideas would be much appreciated
