start up problems

I'm running win me and when i leave my pc off over night and try to boot up ,it frezzes up on the me screen. I've to use msconfig and nothing.i've tried to find a dos or memory virus scan prg. but without any luck..any help anyone

It might freeze because of ACPI type problems (power management modules).
McAffee has a module that scans from a floppy disk. Check the range at http://www.cai.com.

I have had the same thing happen to me, but it was with Win98. The problem turned out to be bad memory. You can try to downloading a program called "checkit" and this programs runs under DOS. This will test your memory and see if it can find any problems. If you doen't want to do this you can take the memory in to a store like Best Buy that has a computer center and have it tested.

Try starting up in safe mode.It sounds like a driver problem to me.
