I have programs (AOL-IM; and, Weatherbug) that I do not want in my startup menu. They are NOT pinned to the STARTUP, but they STILL come up upon startup. How do I stop this? Thank You.

If this is XP go to start and run, type msconfig in the open box. Once the system configuration box opens, click on the startup tab on the top, look for the item you want to disable and uncheck it. You can also look under the services tab and check the box Hide All Microsoft Services, but they should be in the Startup tab.

if you are on xp, you can run msconfig and pull em out of startup. then just reboot. if you are on win2k, time to work the registry.

If you don't find it in the Startup menu, look in the registry.

All IM's start in windows startup if they are configured to do that. I am not familiar with AOL massenger, but I am sure there is a "setup" or "options" tab that enbles you to do so, either before you login or after.
