Compaq Presario X1000. When this system starts up it gives a series of beeps, about 35, but almost too quick to count. There is a short delay after the first and about halfway, and the rest are quick. When the Windows XP loading screen comes on the beeps stop, and the system otherwise loads normally. What is the cause of the beeps, is it a short circuit or a hardware fault or what?
