startup/shutdown option

By Seadogs ·
I've got a PC that has had NT loaded on it twice. I only use the latest version. Is there anyway to remove the 2nd option of winnt/winntvga mode when you first start up? Thanks

You can edit the Boot.ini you will have to remove the read only attribute so that you can edit it. Remove the second line it should look like this.
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINNT="Windows NT Workstation Version 4.00 [VGA mode]" /basevideo /sos
I would suggest you make a copy of this file just in case.
You can also set the time to 0 seconds and you won't see that screen at all. To do this right click My Computer -- Startup Shutdown Tab -- Show List for -- Set this to 0.

Hope that helps.

Edit the Boot.ini file on the system drive. This is a hidden file and is marked as read only so make sure that you check the show all files option in explorer and edit the propeties of the file.
