    STB TV PCI problem :-p

Recently I picked up a STB TV PCI w/FM tv tuner card… After giving it a cozy home in one of my PCI slots I tried to load up the drivers that I downloaded from STB. (there was no installation CD) The prob is that everytime I start Win98 it asks forthe drivers (none of which have worked) for a PCI multimedia device 😕 The install wizard that pops up cannot seem to find an appropriate driver for the card even when i point directly to the directory!! The tv viewer software seems to be working okay… Could this have something to do with my Voodoo3 3000 (AGP) vid card? All other specs (DirectX, processor, RAM) are okay…

PCI Multimedia devices are generally sound cards – check your irqs and make sure there is no conflict with your sound card, and possible update the drivers for that. Worse to worse, remove your agp card, change the primary display in your bios, then try the card solo – you might also want to make sure that if you have an irq option in your bios for vga that it is turned on…

Video capture cards and TV tuner cards can be tricky things to setup(or a piece of piss if done in the right order). To get the thing working , you have to install the direct x first, then install the card, start windows and it will locate the tunercard and ask for the drivers. Install them, then and only then do you install the tv viewer software. Nothing will work properly if it is done in any other order. There are a lot of good drivers and viewer programs available for the Booktree BT 8x capture chip on the net, and a lot of crappy ones.Good luck.
