STOP 0X0000001E error

By fitzy18 ·
This morning I installed the Security Rollup Package on a Dell Laptop that is running SP6a. When I rebooted I got the BSOD and the following error

"STOP 0X0000001E (0X810A985, 0X00000005, 0X0000001, 0X0000004)KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED)XXX ADDRESS 8010a975 HAS BASE AT 80100000 - NTOSKRNL.EXE."

I tried rebooting numerous times and get as far as the login screen after it has you hit CTRL, ALT, DEL but when I enter my login name and password and hit enter I get the blue screen of death. Please help!!!! Thanks.

STOP 0X0000001E error

Have you tried selecting the "last known good" configuration? This might work and is worth a try if you haven't yet. Also, have you tried booting to VGA Mode? If you can do that, then you might be able to uninstall the security patches from there - I haven't used the rollup package, so I'm not sure if it allows you to uninstall and if it shows each patch individually or all as one package in add/remove programs. If you can't get into VGA Mode (which you probably can't, but it's worth a try), you'll have to restore. Hopefully, you have an ERD from before you installed the patch. If not, you could try to restore without an ERD - sometimes this works OK, but afterwards you have to reapply your service packs and security patches. If this works, I would definitely NOT reapply the rollup package without contacting Microsoft first - obviously something in the package is creating a conflict with one of the Dell drivers. If you can't recover either in VGA mode or by repairing NT, you're out of luck - you'll probably have to completely reinstall NT and all your software. Hope this helps!

Hi Fitzy,
Still there is hope
if your hard disk is formatted with FAT than do one thing boot with bootable floppy of win9x, if you are using any antivirus than go to the location and rename of the antivirus folder to oldantivirus and rename the folder which you have currently installed. than reboot your comp. after logged on you will get some errors bypass all the errors. than go to the location where you have installed the rollup package (which you have renamed) now rename it to orignal and go to contol panel and uninstall the the package.
