stop an NT service

the batch file isnt the problem...
stopping an NT service from the batch file is the
problem. how do you stop an nt service from the
command line?

net stop "The Name of the service exactly like it is listed in services"

to restart it

net start "the name of the service"

The name of the service is case sensitive so it must look exactly like it does in the services list.

I don't remember asking this question but will reward points for it cause you're right.

I am actually astonshed anyone who may have used my pc asked this question without first asking me. I knew the answer too

To stop a service from the command line, you use the net stop command.
For instance, if you want to stop the spooler service, at a cmd prompt type:
net stop spooler

To restart it, type:
net start spooler

You can also use the SC.EXE & NETSVC.EXE utilities from the NT resource kit to manipulate NT services.
