Stop Error during RAID Configuration

By j077hn ·
I recently setup a PC that had two 80G hard drives on a spanning RAID configuration. Everything worked fine.

Then, a few weeks later, after receiving two more 80Gb hard drives I decided to expand my array. So there were a total of four exactly identical 80G hard drives set up on a Spanning raid array.

It showed up as two different partitions on the same drive. So I expanded the partition to make it a complete 298G drive. Everything worked fine.

After I was finished with my computer for the night I shut it down, and went to bed. When I arrived home from work the next day, I turned it on and it wouldn't boot.

So I grabbed my Windows XP Pro disk hoping to get to the Recovery Console to run a few diagnostics and before I could even get to the F8 I agree page. The setup quit completely and had the Stop error 0x0000007b (0xf7802524, 0x00000034, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)

Now, I know what this error means. My question is, before I waste alot of time, Can I retrieve any of the data on these disks, or do you think I am getting this error because I didn't install the RAID drivers for my motherboard when I installed the other two drives and combined them? Do you think expanding the partition is the cause?

Any ideas on how to fix this or known utilities that I can use to run some diagnostics would be very helpful. Thank you for your time.
