That stop error could be almost any hardware error - it is a generic error for which Windows reports little in the way of specific information. If updating drivers or removing any new hardware doesn't help, you may just have to take it to a shop to be tested. You could also download and burn the Ultimate Boot CD (UBCD) and run the hardware tests from that first.
Just make sure that you download the ISO and not click on thew add on the page. Then after you have burnt the ISO to a CD drop it in the Optical Drive and make sure that the Optical Drive is the first int he Boot Chain in BIOS and run a full spread of Diagnostics from the Ultimate Boot CD on all your Hardware.
