Stop Mavis Beacon Crashes?

By CMB from Omaha ·
I work in a community college Learning Center, and we're using Mavis Beacon 11. We already knew that it crashes a lot, but one student is having constant problems. We've tried changing Mavis CDs, deleting her history (.rec) file in case it was corrupted, and moving her to a different machine, but the crashes still occur every few minutes. Any advice? We are ready to tear our hair out! Thanks!

check this one out.
Procedure Entry Point...MSVCRT.DLL
While starting Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing? 11, the following message appears: "The procedure entry point_lc_collate_cp could not be located in the dynamic link library MSVCRT.DLL." The title bar of the accompanying message reads: "Mavis11.exe - Entry Point Not Found." A missing file causes this issue. Copying the MSVCRT.DLL file from the CD to the Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing? 11 folder on the hard drive will help resolve the issue.

the link is found at:

There is also a network patch.

try contacting them if nothing else works.

ps:
next time pls include the version of the os.

Hi,

The URL you gave wasn't exactly the one I needed, but it did lead me to the right place. Apparently it's a known bug (feature?) of MB11 that the program crashes if you don't pass the last Beginner level quiz. Our student has limited use of her hands, so it took her MANY tries to pass that quiz. But at least we were able to explain to her that once she got past the trouble spot, the s/w should stop crashing. Thank goodness, it did!
