Stop process from command prompt

By michiel.lexmond ·
I would like to stop a process from the command prompt. How can I do this?

The problem is that an I-PAQ blocks the com1: port even after it is disconnected. I want to make a batch file to stop the task for our sales guys.

Use net stop "<service name>" ,e.g. net stop "spooler". Some services will ask you to enter a y to confirm, and for these just add /y to the end.

Or you can also use the Resource Kit SC.EXE command, use:

"sc query" to get a list of the services, and then "sc stop <service name>" to stop the service.
