Does anyone have a reg file or other method to stop the W2K pro Indexing service across a LAN? I can generate a text file of pc names.

Yes. You need a copy of NETSVC.EXE, from the Resource Kit. This command-line app will let you stop/start/list services on remote computers.
It has been around for a while. Please read Technet article Using NETSVC.EXE To Control and Display Services(Q140378):
      http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q140378
      (please remove any spaces)

You can set up a BAT file to stop the Indexing services for every system on your LAN.
You just need a copy of NETSVC.EXE
Looks like it is not a free download from Microsoft; you’ll just have to find it.
