stopping domain login

Compaq system with Win95. Have removed network functions for login, but getting a required domain login before can use. Can boot to safe mode. Need to identify system’s nic to disable so an installed nic will work under Linux. System apparently has setup on hard drive, but not able to find system settings in safe mode. How to remove the required domain login would be helpful. Once done, drive will be disconnected.
