I have an NT4 server network with about 40 workstations: (mix of NT4 & Win 2000).
We have a network share on one of our NT4 servers that contains Excel spreadsheets that many of our 20 users use on a day to day basis, constantly updating and savingthem. They are not configured to be “shared workbooks” so usually only one user at a time can gain Write access to the workbook. All others should only be able to access that same workbook in Read-Only mode until the other user has exited.
Recently, any two users have been able to gain acces to the same workbook at the same time both in Write mode. What will usually happen will be that the first person in the spreadsheet will not be able to save their work and gets booted out while the second person that gained access can save their work.
Why is this happening?
Any help is much appreciated.
Thanks
