strange email-receipt

By europanorama ·
i received two identical mails within one day from an unknown person but in both of them the "to:"-adress was not mine but from a third unknow person. i have found this hotmail.com-adress in a guestbook of an other photographer(i am photographer). i have a hotmail.com-adress but this one was not affected. i even do not have an entry in the guestbook, not in that section but in another.
are my coming-in-messages being watched of hacked?

No,it could be a virus
If you suspect that your computer is being hacked then use a firewall such as zone alarm which offers a free version
Check your system with a spyware program

The unknown emails could be a virus that has been fowarded from the address book unknowingly

donot open emial that you donot know the sender use your anti-virus to scan the email or delete it entirely, opening the email may be hazardous to your computer

The email is a scam that is sent thru email and faxes that solicit people to send money,it is not a virus but a scam to get unsuspecting people to send money to an unknown address

Ignore all

Is the message a spam advertisment of some sort? You could have been included in the bcc: (blind copy) field and you will not see your address in the to: field. Alot of spammers do this so you can't see the multitude of people the email went to. I use it sometimes just so people don't have to wade through an extremely large list of recipients.

You can test this yourself by sending an email to someone and putting yourself in the bcc: field. You'll get the email but you will see only the recipient's address in the to: field.

This could have been a mass junk mailing. The sender may have put your email address under BCC (blind carbon copy). You would then receive a message even though someone else was in the "To:" window.
