I have been using Win XP Pro since 2005 with no problems, however, after last weeks? updates, the mouse acts very erratically. Sometimes it will jump all over the screen (without moving the mouse), opening and closing various applications and files, creating shortcuts, changing the position of the Quick Launch bar, and sometimes changing the position of the task bar. My Norton AntiVirus is up to date. I have 1 GB of Ram. I have a Logitech MouseMan PS/2 mouse. I tried deleting all the Logitech software and mouse driver to see if that would cure things, but it made no difference. I uninstalled the Windows updates and that made no difference. Re-installed them and it made no difference.
It cannot be a hardware problem, because the mouse continues to work perfectly with Win 98SE, Win NT, and Linux machines.
I think, perhaps, the updates changed something in the registry that is causing this, but what could that be and how do I fix it?
I’m at my wit’s end. Any ideas as to what is causing this and how to stop the crazy behaviour?
