strange keyboard behaviour on laptop

I recently bought a used Dell lattitude c800 laptop
Installed xp pro on it everything works fine except the right shift key doensn’t seem to work correctly.
You don’t get Capital letters by usi8ng it. However in Ms Words the combination of the right shift key and > does change the font size.
Any idea’s ?
Or is it just broke !!
