Strange NETSTAT results

By e_g_paulson ·
I ran a "NETSTAT" on my NT Server today, only to find connections from computers that have not been on the network for *years*. Anyone know why I have all these stale connections?

Perhaps there are entries in the HOSTS file or LMHOSTS file that point to these old machines.
I would check out these two files to see if you have old data in them.

Open Explorer and go to C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\drivers\etc and look at HOSTS and LMHOSTS

hope this helps

Thanks... the "hosts" file was the key.
