stranger internal IP

By mauri_1848 ·
DHCP on W2000 Server reports an IP number lease to a machine without name.

The weird: when I browse this IP with IE, a Apache WebServer appears uninstalled, and I don't have ANY webservers on my network.

Where can I start to check this out?

It is most likely a linux/unix machine. By default, linux will not forward a dhcp_hostname to the dhcp server. Without this Win2k will simply lease the address and leave the hostname blank.

Most likely someone is playing around with a new distro on your network.

I forgott to mention

I forgott to mention that I do NOT have ANY unix/linux box on the network. ALL stations and SERVERS are Windows.
