    stuck in power save mode

    dell pc with win 2k pro. on the screen it says monitor in power save mode activate using pc. when you try using pc nothing happens it’s like it’s hung. had it unpluged for the weekend and it’s still acts hung when you power up. it does not even boot the busy light just stays on. any comments would be great. thanks

      I know this sounds like a stupid question, but is the monitor cable plugged in? If it is, try the monitor on another (a friend’s) PC and see if it works. Do you have an On-Board Video card(if it is not already plugged in to it) try that one. It sounds like it could be the video card…Can you hear the PC counting off the RAM? If it does, then it is usually not the card.

      try to disable the power save mode in the monitor properties

      Well the problem is here, that your moniter doesnt see the computer, it thinks it was told to go into low power mode.
      Check all connections, make sure your video card hasnt creeped out.
      If you still get nothing, not even POST as before, then you got a bad moniter or a bad video card. Your gonna haft to swap them out for testing to determine the final answer here.

      Take the cover off, and pull the power supply cord, and plug it back in. It will reset things.
      It won’t hurt to pull the plug and data straps off the hard drive and motherboard, and plug them back in, also.
