General discussion

I am the network administer (who doesn't have much experience yet) and I have a Win2000 PC. Last week I could alter the TCP IP setups using Network & Dial Up Connections but now all the properties buttons and configuration buttons that normally work are greyed out. No one else could have done this though. How do I reverse this problem.

Have you tried installing new drivers and ensuring the NIC is active in the device manager?

It sounds like it isn't installed properly.

WHat other info do you have, make, model etc.?

Dumb question maybe, but sometimes the obvious is overlooked.

Are you logging on with administrator privileges? If not, cannot change settings.

The possible list of causes is short:

As Willcomp asked, are you logging in as an admin? This one is my guess.

Are there any Policies in effect that would limit access by the user/group you are logged in as, even if you have admin rights?

These days Hi-jacks, Spyware, Adware, Worms, & Virus' must always be considered. Are you sure you are clean? (The computer, not you)

Good Luck,
