Subnetting question

by cmptrwhz . Updated 22 years, 4 months ago

Hi All,

I really need some help with this. I am currently studying for both the CCNA and W2K 70-216 exams. I am having the hardest time understanding subnetting.. I understand that the # following the slash (x.x.x.x/24) is the number of bits in the subnet.
I am looking for the simplest way possible to understand the other part of the question.. How do you find the number of hosts, networks, and the ip addresses for the hosts (ie.. the ranges)?
I have looked on the net and in the CCNA study guide that I bought and I don’t really understand it. Can someone please help me?

Thanks in a advance.
Mike
