suddenly can't connect

By bbrown112 ·
Workstations on our network suddenly cannot connect to Georgia government websites. We are a law enforcement agency and use these sites regularly. I can surf the web freely as long as I don't go to these sites. Internet Explorer says they cannot be found.

Well firstly you are connecting so the problem most likely isn't at your end. The other end may have changed Address {Governmetn Departments often do when contracts come up} or you could have ended up on a Black List and be being refused adminintance or something similar.

You'll need to contact the other end to see what changes they have made so you can regain your connection to these sites.

AS you didn't say anything about a Server I'm taking it that you have a Workgroup where you are and not any Global Policies or Active Directory to contend with as if you do it could be a setting at your end that is limiting your ability to connect to these sites as they could be seen by your server as Untrusted and access is denied.

In addition to HAL's great suggestions, is your DNS functioning properly?

Can you ping those websites by name and IP address? If you can't your issue is with DNS. Do you control the DNS server for your office?

Dan the Comment Tab is missing again.

Well in that case as you can still contact the sites from a unattached computer what is your setup where you are?

Do you have a Domain in Place with a server of some description? If sao what is it and what Policies are currently in place?

There are only 2,000 words that can be fitted in here and to cover all the posibilities it will take several times that amount and still have no garantee that I will give you the correct answer.
