What value have you found in what I still perceive to be a pointless 'feature'? The ability to have the last word without others on the original thread seeing it? The ability to route so many different branches to the WC that following the original discussion becomes impossible?

Its potential for meandering exploration of the unknown is strong.

I think that's been overshadowed by what appears to me to be just blind clicking on 'Take Offline' as opposed to moving up a level to 'Reply' and continue the conversation in original thread. As in people not reading what they click. Which is, indeed, annoying.
