I just picked up a Sun Fire 280R (i’m hell bent on learning Unix and want a Sparc box to do it on). It has PCI slots on it.
Does anyone know *for sure* if it is absolutely necessary to use Sun graphics cards, or can I use, say an Nvidia PCI card in it (for example). I don’t want to spend a load of cash on this box. It would be a LOT better to load Sun OS 10 on this with a video display on it, and play around with Unix that way instead of using Hyperterminal thru a serial connection.
