I am having a difficult time finding a Slim ATAPI 50-pin to 50-pin ATAPI/IDE PATA cable. Is such a cable available? Mfr? PN:?
The original DVD R/W drive (Sun P/N: 371-2549) uses a 50-pin ATAPI/IDE PATA cable interface on both the motherboard (connector J11) and drive. That drive is no longer available; The replacement drive (Sun P/N: 390-0403) has a Slim ATAPI 50-pin cable interface, and is supposed to ship with the required cable per Sun service manual.
There is a cooling fan box directly behind the drive so space is an issue (E.G.: using a connector interface board).

Purchase a DVD R/W drive w/ SATA interface and connect it to the hard drive interface panel
