Locked

Supporting and maintaining win 9x disk

By clammerse ·
The very product that is supposed to help me has locked me out of my main PC !!!

I installed the above disk but on reboot it hung.
Have tried several reboots but it still hangs with the message: Explorer caused an invalid page fault in module shell32.dll at 0197:7fcb2342

PC is an AMD 1.1G dual boot Lindows/Win98SE

I am not looking forward to reinstalling !!!

can you boot into safe mode? then uninstall the offending program?
start computer from cold. tap f8 key during black screen part of boot, start tapping after the BIOS checks and before windows loads. Select Safe Mode from the resulting Startup Menu.

Some info on shell32.dll

Windows Shell Library:
File that contains the Windows Shell API functions used to open web pages and documents and to obtain information about file associations.
System DLL: Yes
Common Errors: File Not Found, Missing File, Exception Errors

Although I'm not familiar with the program you installed, sounds like it may have replaced or modified shell32.dll. You can try extracting the dll from your Win98 CD using a Win98 startup disk (not install disk) and the ext command. Shell32.dll is located in the \windows\system folder in Win98.

Hope this helps
