Suse Linux Drive Map Netware Servers

By jhackett ·
I have installed Suse Linux 9.0 Professional
Running Gnome
I have installed novelclient to attach to my 4 Netware 6x servers.
I can drill down in the volumes and copy files to and from my computer.
Is there any way to map drive letters to my netware volumes?

If you have the client installed you should have the famous RED N in your system tray. Just right click it and select MAP network drive.

Other than that, you will need to create a custom login script to have them mapped upon login.

Did you look at Ximian Linux for Novell too? XD2 desktop is a little easier to manage, my users find.

I have the novelclient installed for Linux.
It is not the Novell client.
Does Linux have a system tray?

Sorry I was thinking of Ximian Linux Desktop for Novell (XD2). It's all pretty like Wondoze but it actually works.

I have downloaded the Ximian desktop.
It is pretty but I still can't map a drive.
One of the sysops at Novell told me that Linux doesn't recognize drive letters.
It's funny to me that I am supposed to convert all my users over to UNC so that I can run Linux on the desktop. What is Novell thinking....

That's pretty bizarre! I setu a fair number of XD2's and have never noticed that, mind you I run a larger MS network so I may be just be having a brain fart. I know Linux doesn't actually map but i thought XD2 had an emulator that creates volume groups (pretty much the same as mapping).

I'll have to reread that one when I get back I guess.

(The worst part is I'm an MCNE!?!) Although prior to Novell/Ximian. Sorry bout that.
