Suspend Mode Malfunction ?

By dte29 ·
I am using an Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe M.B. with an Athlon 3800 processor.Windows XP on one hard drive and Vista Beta on the other.(Both ATA). I accidently hit the "suspend" button on the Logitech keyboard and put the system to sleep.Has not worked since ! Replaced the power supply and now turns on but no video. Also seems like H.D.'s are not spinning up.Keyboard does not seem to work also.No POST beeps even if I start the system with no mouse or keyboard. Also for video I am running a PCI-E video card. Dont know what else to try.Completely frustrated. Thanx in advance.

Let me get this right

by Michael Jay In reply to Suspend Mode Malfunction ...

You hit suspend and then could not power up the pc at all and then replaced the power supply and got a power up with no drive spin and no video. If this is right I would suspect you replaced the power supply with a defective one or one without enough wattage to support the pc.

Your Right !

Thanx for the response. You are right. I replaced it with a 350 watt supply I had on hand. My M.B. book says it is O.K. but I did and do suspect it. I checked both P.S. with a tester which showed good but still put the 350 in. After I installed the new one,I tried booting with only video but did not do any good. Would that matter? If so, I'll go get a good one today. I was pricing them and new M.B.'s today. Seems I can fix everyones computers but not my own. Thanx again.

Nope,not P.S.

As a result of extensive testing, the power supply, motherboard and "power on" switch on the case where all bad.I found the power switch was sticking "ON".I believe the button kept voltage to the M.B. and fryed it.Dont have a clue as to why the power supply died but it will not boot test computer up either. Also, possible that when I originally hit the "suspend" button it was just coincident.

What a Mess

by Michael Jay In reply to Nope, not P.S.

Clearly it is pure coincidence that your pc chose the moment you suspended it to die, I can see no reason to think that suspend mode could damage hardware.
With all that going on have you gotten the pc back up?

All fixed !

by dte29 In reply to What a Mess

Yes,I did get it fixed. Got a good deal on a 500 watt power supply at CompUSA.(Great store for computer hard. & acc.).Ordered Asus A8N32 SLI Deluxe and AMD processor from mwave.com (Directron.com pissed me off). Just to make sure I tested all bad parts over again.P.S.,M.B. and case switch are 100% DOA. Right now I am using my reset switch as my power on switch til my new case arrives. Funny thing is,I still cant wake system out of sleep mode. I am going to download most recent drivers for my video but dont know if that will help. Thank to all for info.

Question:

by dawgit In reply to Suspend Mode Malfunction ...

What type of Keyboard is that? USB? or PS-2?
If it's a USB type, try to use a PS-2 type, and see if that doesn't do things a little differently. -d
