We rolled some windows updates this week and since then some of the computers on the network about 15 freezes up very often.
the svchost process seem to be at 95-100% when i kill the process the computer is fine for about an hour, then the process appears again and the cycle is on.
I did a tasklist/SVC on command prompt and this ‘misfit’ process is tied to these services:
svchost.exe 1072 AudioSrv, BITS, Browser, CryptSvc, Dhcp,
dmserver, ERSvc, EventSystem, helpsvc,
lanmanserver, lanmanworkstation, Netman,
Nla, RasMan, Schedule, seclogon, SENS,
SharedAccess, ShellHWDetection, TapiSrv,
TrkWks, W32Time, winmgmt, wuauserv, WZCSVC
Outlook appear to be most affected of all applications when a user opens outlooks it freezes for about five minutes.
The machines are running XP SP3, Office 2003 with 2007compatibility pack
Anyone ever encountered this?
Will appreciate some leads and or resolutions.
