swap file

After making a set size swap file in W98.
What is the statment you have to place in the [386 en] section, to make windows use RAM first.
Not the swap file.

swap file

I'm not sure I understand your question. By default, Windows will use available RAM before using the swap file so you don't need to enter anything.

The swap file, by definition, is an extension of the RAM onto an area of the hard drive and is only used to temporarily store information that won't fit in RAM.

I think this is what you are looking for.
This tweak optimizes the use of the swap file on systems with large amounts of memory, (> 128mb)since the swap file is not needed so much.

In the System.ini Under the 386Enh section, add "ConservativeSwapfileUsage=1". Save and restart Windows.

Hi

To make sure RAM is used before the swapfile is used type:

ConservativeSwapfileUsage=1

under the [386Enh] section in System.ini

There you go.

I should add that making W98 use RAM before using the swapfile will only result in a performance increase if you have 64MB of RAM or more
