Switching User Profiles

By rajsdoshi ·
Naively, without knowing much, I started using a new XP PC in the Administrator mode.

Now, I have create a NewUser with lesser privileges, and want to use that when I surf the web and when I am not doing admin tasks.

However, I have build up the look-and-feel (display, start-up-items, etc, etc) in Administrator mode, and seems to be a lot of work to duplicate the look in NewUser mode.

I don't care how the screen and display look in Admisntrator mode.

Is there a way I can switch these 2 Users (so that NewUser becomes Adminsitrator, and vice-versa)?

Thank you, - raj

No, but you can......

(1) Make sure there is an account for THE "Administrator" itself before doing anything else. THE Administrator account is completely different than running in "Administrator mode".

(2) Turn the account with Administrator mode that you first began using into a limited account. But, make absolutely certain THE Administrator account mentioned above is present AND working before you do this.

A word of caution though. It is NORMAL for a new WinXP PC to begin using an account which has some administrative capabilities & permissions. That does not mean that it is THE Administrator account. Permissions and account NAMES are two entirely different things.
