turned off au and have not installed xp home sp2. i have all the latest versions of the following applications on my computer ( computer purchased new, may, 2004 ): sygate personal firewall 5.5, nod32b, and adaware. all my ms windows updates are current.
** my question: will i get a clean install of xp home edition sp2?

You should. However, Exit all running apps in system tray as far possible, close all running apps., and NB., make sure your CD drive is in good condition if installing from there, better; install from the folder where it was saved. Be sure to enable the backup files option in order to reverse in case of malfunction. However I have only begun with SP2 installs, but I guess the same rules will apply as per SP1. A corrupted/interrupted install could damage/corrupt your Win system/startup files. I had an interrupted install on SP1 and had to format and start all over because of dirty CD device not reading properly.
