symantec ghost 2003

i made a ghost image on external usb hard drive
and would like to boot from diskket and get aceses to this external usb drive. i used the ghost utilities created bootable usb support diskket but still cant see the ext. h.drive.
checked symantec web for config.sys file and did all the updates but still doesnt work.
appreciate your help.
