Symbol scanner & Infor's Syteline Software

By vinman6786 ·
We are implementing Syteline 7.5.10 ERP software and are using Symbol scanners to use data collection. If anyone is running Syteline, have you tried or gotten Symbol scanners to work with it? Our vendor says they will work and Syteline's support say they should, but don't have a firm answer. If anyone has information they could give us, I would appreciate it.

Thanks,

Vince

What's the user interface of the ERP system?

by robo_dev In reply to Symbol scanner & Infor's ...

If it's telnet, like SAP/R3, it will "work" but your users will find ways to "accidentally" put their computers under the wheels of their forklift.

I would venture to guess that unless the ERP vendor has created a specific Windows Mobile client for the system, you're either stuck with:

Telnet (unreadable) or

Web client (unreadable and may not work if it uses some custom java plug-in or something).

In my case we hired some developers to create a custom SAP/R3 Warehouse Management client for the Windows Mobile OS on the Symbols.

And to make it even more fun, the project manager chose a symbol touch screen PC for a forklift computer. It ran some OLD version of Windows CE. Again the development house had to write a client for that.

Handheld applications have all sorts of challenges, especially if they're wireless handhelds.
