Sync. public folder w/private folder

By Eminent87 ·
Hi,

Does anybody know of an easy way or an Exchange 2000 add-on that will help synchronize public folder with private folders?

Our policy is that all our contacts must reside in the public folder where everyone can access it. To prevent accidental deletion of data, we've taken write priviledge away from everyone except for one person, who does all of contacts updates. This setup works fine but now people want to add and attach information to the note section of the contact, is there a way to do this without giving them write access to the directory?

I was thinking just have them add the information to their personal contact list and then do a one way sync so that our main contact list will get updated automatically. Is there some kind of add-on for exchange that can automatically sync (from client to server only)everyone's contacts to the one in the public folder?

make a copy of the public folder in the users "favorites" folder under the public folder you can then sync the public folder there for offline use. Just right click on the desire public folder and drag up to the public favorites then choose copy, next right click on the 'new' item and setup your sync prefs.

I tried your suggestion but that didn't solve my problem for write access. Even though I copied the contacts to the favorite folder in the and synchronized for offline but could not edit it since they don't have write access to it. Am I missing something? If so then can you please provied me with more details? Thanks!
