All that information is real nice, but..........

.... there isn't one thing in there about the devices in the device manager.

What ports do you have and which ones are not already being used?

At first, I didn't see any port in device manager. Computer didn't detect any, then I force the input of port. I get an error on COM3, didn't see any other.

COM3 connot start the device.

Does your computer PHYSICALLY have a COM port?

by ThumbsUp2 In reply to COM Port

Do you have a physical Serial COM port on the back of computer at all? If so and you don't see a COM port in the Device Manager, you've either got motherboard driver problems or the motherboard isn't functioning properly (COM port is out). Without a COM port physically on the computer, you wouldn't have anywhere to connect the phone to it. So, what are you using?

I'm using a USB cable. But USB use virtual COM port if I'm correct. It's working that way on another computer in the network.

re: USB cable.

by ThumbsUp2 In reply to com port

USB doesn't 'use' a virtual COM port. If it's a USB to Serial Adapter, it 'creates' a virtual COM port when the drivers are installed. Did those get installed?

If you see a COM3 port in the Device Manager, I'm assuming it's from this 'cable'. Can you change the designation to COM1 and reboot? If it won't let you change to COM1 (or 2) due to conflicts, then there is one or two already built into the motherboard even though there may not be a physical port showing. You'll need to disable it in the BIOS.

How can it be designated (label) in BIOS?? I didn't find anything.
