Hi –
This is a strange situation. I have a user who uses Windows 2000 and Office 2000. Has the latest service packs and office releases and updates. When the user is working remotely, and tries offline sycnronization over DSL/cable modem, the sychrnozation is fine. When he is on the corporate network, goes offline and tries to sync, works fine . No error message. But, when he tries thru dial-up, gives a error message – Erros in background sycnronization. I have tried the following –
1. Thought it was a problem with the mail server, so moved his mailbox to another server(all mail servers here are Exchange 2000). Did n’t help.
2. Backed up existing mailbox to a personal folder and deleted the mailbox, created new mailbox. Still the problem exist.
3. Next, created a new offline folder. Problem still exist.
4. Ran the Detect and Repair utility (outlook 2000 utility). Still the problem exist.
5. Re-installed outlook 2000. still problem exist.
6. When I checked the MS Knowledge, found the information related to this error message, did what the document told me to to, but still the problem exist.
7. Applied Sp1 to Exchange, thought this would help solve the problem.
This user is only user in the organization, rest all users are able to sync without any errors thru dial-up.
Before submitting this issue to Microsoft, i thought i would try here first. Please help
