Synchronize Favorites in Roaming Profile

By wwatkins ·
All of our users are on roaming profiles, two of them have this problem: when they make changes in their IE favorites, and log-off and then back on, the changes are not saved/synchronized. When I change them to local profiles, changes are saved. When thay are changed back to roaming profiles, the problems are back also.

Sounds like the roaming profile is not getting updated/saved after the user logs off. With roaming profiles, when the user logs on, a copy of the roaming profile is put on the local machine. They can then modify the profile and change favorites. When they logoff the profile is copied back to the roaming profile location. Sounds like this is not happening. I would check event logs on the PC and server for errors such as event id 1000. We had this happening a lot and went to for many ideas. For us it turned out to be Kyocera print drivers. Removed them and installed an alternative to the driver we had and that fixed it. Sounds like it is caused by many things, including the original MSBlaster patch in some cases.

The two problem PCs had their Favorites entry in the registry changed. We wrote a script to run at logon to correct the registry entry. PCs working fine now.
