SysAdmin passwd for Quicken Pro unknown

by rewind79 . Updated 24 years, 10 months ago

One of my contract jobs is for a bussinessman who let his bookkeeper go. He did this before getting the System Admin password for Quicken Pro 2001 for one of his profit centers. There is some hard feelings there and the password will NOT be provided.

Is there a known way to hack the password from a specific *.QBW file? Going forward, I will be giving him the System Admin password and setting up User levels to prevent this in the future.

I was able to view the QBW file w/ the MORE commandand saw in CAPS the word “MAUI” which should not be a known category or account or anything. The bookkeeper did take a trip there in the last year or so. But MAUI by itself wasn’t working. I tried speaking “friend” but that didn’t work either.

Oris there just simply a reset that’s available to the registered owner of the software from Inuit?

Any help or direction is appreciated. Thanks.
