I am attempting to use sysprep to creat a generic image for the Model 2647 series laptops (IBM Thinkpads). The OS is Windows 2000. I want to be able to image a laptop, regardless of the model, and have it boot up and recognize the hardware. I getthe laptop the way I want it then I run sysprep on the system using the -pnp switch. I create an image using Power Quest.
When I take a laptop, doesn’t matter if it is the same model or not, and image it with the new image. The system boots andand starts the setup wizard. When windows drops into the detection mode for PNP it hangs the system. Sometimes it does a physical memory dump. I have not been able to get it past the point.
Any hints?
