SysPrep Grace Period Error

by BeerMonster In reply to SysPrep Grace Period Erro ...

Hi,
If you sysprep a system (I'm guessing this must be XP) that requires product activation, then sysprep will reset the time limit for the first three installs - by which I mean that the machine on which sysprep was run will have recorded the date that XP was installed, and that date is carried along with the image. The first three machines that are built will have the 30 day timer reset to 0, but any after that will take the original machines install date as their 'start' date for the 30day grace period. I don't know anything about the media that you used to build the original machine (IE was it a volume edition etc), but I'm a little confused as to why you are not having problems using these machines considering that as far as theOS is concerned, you have exceeded the time limit for activation. Hopes this helps a bit...

SysPrep Grace Period Error

by dubdha In reply to SysPrep Grace Period Erro ...

This problem has gone away after I made new ghost image. However I have used the image on more than three systems (100's) before this problem occured without seeing a problem. I think it probably had something to do with the service pack 1 install, as since its release I have recreated all images and are not seeing the fault anymore.
Thanks for answering though
