I am using sysprep to create and maintain a Windows XP image. I make all changes on the image such as IE home page, desktop wallpaper, default save locations for MS Office ect.. and then copy that profile to the default user profile. I found out that Profile / Copy does not work the same as Win 2000 so I actually ended up copying the entire (hidden files and all) to the default user profile. As soon as I sysprep the default user profile looses those settings. I have tested this and befor I sysprep and ghost if I log in as another user the settings are there. After I sysprep and ghost any new user logging in does not get the settings. I have verified this by tracking the size of the ntuser.dat, it is 1280 KB before I sysprep and ghost and after it shrinks back to 768 KB. Any ideas.
