System 32 run time error

by dmiles In reply to System 32 run time error

Many Windows programs developed today are written with a program from Microsoft called Visual Basic.
Visual Basic programs require a certain set of files to run. They are commonly known as the VB Run-Time files, and they are quite large in size.
Unfortunately, Microsoft didn't include these run-time files with Windows, and therefore it is up to the programmer to ensure the end-user gets these files installed.

To reduce transfer time and package size, many programmers create their setuppackages without the run-time files. There are places on the web where you can download the run-time files separately. Once they are installed on your system, you need never install them again (unless a newer version, called a 'sp', of a particular run-time set is released by Microsoft)

Many programmers will offer their setup packages in two flavors:

One with the run-time files, and one without. This allows the end-user to decide which package to download--potentially saving valuable time and space.

If you don't know whether or not you have these run-time files installed on your system, it's probably best to download the package that has them included. Then, whenever you run across this situation again, you can choose the package that doesn't include them. If you were to install the package without the run-time files, and you didn't have them on your system, you would simply get a error message stating so.

One more thing to remember is that there are different versionsof Visual Basic. One version of Visual Basic run-time files will not work with another, so you need to keep this in mind. There are currently 5 Visual Basic run-time packages widely in use:

VB3
VB4-16
VB4-32
VB5(sp3) - Click here to download this run-time package
VB6(sp1)

The "sp" stands

System 32 run time error

Does it say system32.exe ? If so, it might be a virus

system32.exe is not a system file in Windows 2000 operating systems. The author of this trojan used this name because it's similar to system file names to avoid deletion by unexperienced users. There are several viruses/worms/trojans that create a malicious file named system32.exe. If the malware detected on your computer was 'Backdoor.SysXXX' then read this document in Symantec's knowledge base for removal instructions:
