system configuration data updated ERROR,–Need a solution

by justtony19 . Updated 17 years, 5 months ago

I have a fairly new Gateway M-1412 laptop running windows vista 32 bit, sp1.
It has worked great, until yesterday morning,
I worked on in the night before, I didn’t installed any hardware or software, just browsed the internet and study, any way at the end of the night I turned it of normally, the next morning I turned it on and beeped twice (beep, beep) and gave me an error message that reads “system configuration data updated ERROR, system configuration data read error, solution”
Press f1 to continue f2 to enter set up.
I pressed f1 and it sent me to another blank page that reads.

Windows failed to start. A resent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix the problem:
1. Insert your windows installation disc and restart computer
2. Choose your language settings and click next,
3. Click ?repair your computer.?
If you do not have the disk, contact your system admin. Etc.

File:\boot\bcd
Status 0xc000000e
Info: an error occurred while attempting to read the boot configuration data.

I installed the disk and followed the instructions and click on the repair.
Then it gave me the next message

?System recovery options?
Windows found problems with your computer?s startup options, do you what to apply repairs and restart your computer?
And clicked on the repair and restart.
And this is what I get ?Failed to save startup options.?

There is no operating system partition or location in the system recovery options window.
But if I click the ?Load Drivers? button it shows me the following.

Hard disk drives (3)

Partition ( C;) 29.0GB of 63.5gb
Recovery (D:) 521gb free of 10.9
Boot (X:) 30.8 mb free of 33.3mb

Devices with removable storage (2)
CD Drive (E:)
Removable disk (F:)

Can anyone please tell me what the problem is?
