System freezes after boot prompt

By NicceLe ·
I'm stuck after the boot prompt displaying that a boot record was found. I've tried to run a repair installation but the Windows Installation CD can not find a Windows partition and lists my C:-partition as damaged.

My other partitions are detected so the problem doesn't seem to be related to damaged partition tables nor a damaged MBR as the boot prompt detects a boot record.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Recuva

Try to repair the disk using chdsk /r from command prompt on safe mode cmd prompt or use Hirens Boot CD and use a disk repair(spinrite) that way. If its just bad sectors/clusters it may be recoverable (unless its a hardware failure). If not, try to recover your data and get a new hdd, they fail, its the other thing they do besides work.
